Wa Constituency NPP retains chairman

 

The Wa Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  has retained Mr Ali Kamara as its chairman for the next four years in an election held in Wa last Sunday.

Mr Kamara polled 398 votes, as against 238 by his opponent, Mr Abdul-Aziz Gado, a former Wa Municipal Chief Executive.

Mr Johnson Bayon Adam emerged as first Vice-Chairman with 321 votes to beat Mr Labib Issah, who had 201 votes and Mr Mohammed Zibilem, who polled 113 votes in the election which was conducted by officials of the Wa Municipal office of the Electoral Commission.

The second Vice-Chairman’s position went to Mr Sidiki Issahaku who had 241 votes, as against 239 votes and 158 votes by Mr Tirah Haruna and Mr Philip Yaw Braimah, respectively.

Mr Iddrisu Alhassan Bomison retained his position as Constituency Secretary after obtaining 342 votes to beat Mr Sepatratus Mwingseng, his only contender.

Four persons—Mr Osman Issahaku, Mr Yakubu Nurideen, Mr Mohammed Momori Askia and Mr Nuhu Zeberu Kantunson—vied for the position of constituency organiser, with Issahaku winning with 338 votes.

The position of treasurer went to Mr Iddrisu Moslem,  who had 304 votes, against 227 votes by Mr Alhassan Sulemani and 61 and 44 votes by Mr Yakubu Eliasu and Ismael Ibrahim respectively.

Madam Alijata Jangu won the Women’s Organiser contest with 325 votes, while her only challenger, Hanatu Ibrahim, had 317 votes.

Mr Daubile Alhaasan Ibrahim was elected the Youth Organiser, bagging 248 votes, against his challengers, namely Mr Doddo Yussif Sadat,  Mr Yussif Musa Gbognara  and Mr Adams Mahmood Momori.

Mr Kamara thanked the delegates for giving him another term in office, and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the accelerated growth of the party and its eventual victory in the constituency.   —GNA
