Why Allotey Jacobs does not want Asiedu Nketiah as NDC Secretary

A former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has intensified his campaign against the re-election of Johnson Asiedu as General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Allotey Jacobs has consequently urged NDC delegates to vote out Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in the upcoming national executive elections.

According to him, Mr Koku Anyidoho, the only person challenging Mr Nketia to the General Secretary position was a better candidate.

"I am not part of his [Koku] campaign, but I've known Koku, I believe that Asiedu Nketiah is an indiscipline person...there are two of them contesting, I will prefer Koku [Anyidoho]," he said on Peace FM's Kokrokoo morning show on Wednesday.

Mr Jacobs during the Kokrokoo programme described Mr Asiedu Nketiah as “arrogant”.

Making reference to an abominable treatment meted out to one of the party’s executives by Mr Nketiah, he said the General Secretary’s behavior lacks respect for leadership.

“Asiedu Nketiah is very arrogant. He’s indisciplined…He is a hypocritical person,” he fumed calling on supporters of the party to vote him out at the party’s upcoming November primaries.

Asiedu Nketiah's response

Mr Asiedu Nketiah on his part says he will not respond to comments made by Allotey Jacobs about his leadership.

In a radio interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Mr Nketiah said he was unperturbed by what he says is the vile propaganda to get him out of office.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia said he has the shock absorbers to neutralise any missiles aimed at ensuring he loses the party’s upcoming primaries slated for November 2018.

He has called on party delegates to vote out General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito during national executive elections.

To him, such hate campaign is a ‘blessing in disguise.’

He stated that, telling delegates not to vote for him only boosts his chances of being retained as General Secretary.

“Allotey Jacobs just expressed his opinion and I have no problem but it will not affect my campaign” he added.

General Mosquito bemoaned how candidates are descending into the gutters just to win an internal election.

This notwithstanding, Asiedu Nketia said he is focused on conducting a clean campaign for a resounding victory in the primaries.
