Work hard to justify position given you

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has advised party officials to work very hard to win the confidence of more electorate into their camp.

He stressed that "You should work hard to justify the position given to you."

At an end-of-year get-together organised by the Akrofuom Constituency branch of the  NPP, Mr Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as "Chairman Wontumi", noted that the time had come for the party to do more of the house-to-house campaign to make the electorate know what the NPP had for them so that they would  vote for the party.

Resounding victory

He said the time had also come for each and everyone to contribute both in kind and in cash and also work hard for a resounding victory for the party in 2016.

He emphasised that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was fumbling with the economy and the NPP was the only alternative that could help to transform the fortunes of the country.

That justification, he said, should go with hard work, commitment and sacrifice. He urged all to embrace such qualities so that the party could take back power and exhibit its management capabilities to the letter to enhance effective development.

Chairman Wontumi commended the NPP Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah, for the good job he was doing in his constituency, which he described as unprecedented.

He  said many projects had been undertaken, some financed by himself or  through his influence and judicious use of his (MP’s) share of the Common Fund and other government financial interventions.

Financial contribution

The regional chairman was of the belief that such a move, when emulated by his other colleagues, could contribute to the party's efforts in winning majority of the electorate from other political parties.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako commended Mr Appiah-Pinkrah for his financial contributions to the regional secretariat of the party.

He appealed to the Akrofuom Constituency executive to work in close collaboration with the New Edubiase Constituency executive and work out pragmatic and meaningful strategies to win the New Edubiase seat for the NPP in 2016, adding that, "Since  you are close, you can work in concert to win the seat."

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah said he had relegated his party affiliation to the background and was working for the development of the people in the constituency.

He noted that almost all the communities had benefited from projects, many of which were through  his initiative.

Some of them are boreholes, mechanised stand pipes , water closets, classroom blocks for schools in the communities, including the only senior high school at Akrofuom, computers for selected schools,  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres, maternity blocks for health centres and scholarship for needy brilliant students in both second cycle and tertiary institutions.
