Annan must improve to retain top spot

Annan has been unable to recapture the starting position since taking time off to tie the knot with his girlfriend after match week four of the truncated 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The skipper’s continuous stay on the bench generated media rumours of bad blood between him and Baah – however, the duo came out to refute such claims.

Kwame Baah joined the Porcupines this season and started as deputy to first-choice Felix’s in the opening four games of the 2019/2020 campaign.
However, Baah’s startling performance in Felix’s absence saw him keeping the post in ten league games and helped the Porcupines to 5 wins, 1 defeat and 4 draws by far. Kwame Baah conceded the least number of goals, which is 4 in 10 games he featured in as against Annan who managed 2 defeats and 2 wins in his first 4 games.

Despite Kwame Baah performing well, the decision to maintain him ahead of Felix has still not sunk well with a section of the Kotoko supporters.
But Sampson Appiah in an interview with Kweku Osei TV on YouTube questioned why they should have dropped Baah for Annan with the performance he exhibited – he further advised that Annan should double his effort if he is to reclaim his no.1 spot.

“Felix used to be our first choice goalie before his wedding ceremony but Kwame Baah grabbed the opportunity and did very well without conceding most in matches so how can you drop him?” he asked.

“The supporters would have killed us if Annan underperform when given the nod. There’s no personal hatred for him but following the rules of the game. Hard work will be the secret of him regaining his position devoid of any envies.”

Felix Annan due to his inactivity for his club was dropped from the Black Stars squad that would have played the postponed 2021 AFCON qualifiers invited by new Black Stars Coach, C.K Akonnor few months ago.
