Believer challenges Ray Quarcoo

The General Secretary of the United Boxing Coaches Association of Ghana (UBCAG), Abdul Rasheed Williams, alias “Believer”, has called on the president of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF), Ray Quarcoo, to step down before the Commonwealth Games which take  place in Scotland in September.

He argued that Ray Quarcoo was fully aware that he would lose in any election to elect a new president that is why he had refused to focus on it.

According to “Believer”, the constitution of the GABF stipulates that an election should be held after every four years to elect new executives as Ambassador Quarcoo’s current term expires in May 26.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports in Accta last Friday, Believer stated that none of the stakeholders had been served with a notice  of the next elections.

Rather, he alleged, Ambassador Quarcoo had held a press conference to plead for time to organise the elections after the Commonwealth games in September.

This, Believer believed,  breached the constitution of the federation.

“We the stakeholders wrote to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for preparations towards the next elections but we haven’t heard anything.

“Ambassador Quarcoo knows his administration has not delivered and that is why he is behaving this way,” “Believer” told the Graphic Sports.

“If he knows he has done his job well, then I don’t know why he wants to breach the constitution by asking for more time,” he argued.
