Baffoe hails Nyantakyi’s FIFA Exco membership

Former Black Stars defender , Anthony Baffoe, has hailed the  election of Kwesi Nyantakyi into the FIFA Executive Council, saying,Ghana stands to gain tremendously from such a high profile position.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports in an interview, Baffoe said with his new position, the GFA president could influence FIFA to initiate many projects in Ghana with the view  of accelerating the development of football in the country.

Nyantakyi garnered 31 votes to place second, ahead of close competitor, Ahmad of Madagascar, who polled 30 votes, as against Guinean Almamy Kabele Camara, who emerged first with a total of 37 votes.

 "It is a great achievement for him to be in such a respectable position, but the nation as a whole also stands to gain from him, and I expect the GFA to take full advantage ”, he emphasised.

Baffoe, who was part of the Stars 1992 squad that lost the AFCON final to Côte d' Ivoire in an 11-12 penalty shoot-out, urged the football fraternity to rally behind Nyantakyi to enable him  carve a niche for himself and the country.
