Matthew Cudjoe awaits new deal from Kotoko

Manager nimble-footed Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward, Matthew Cudjoe, says he is still waiting for a response from the Porcupine Warriors on a new contract for the player.

The 16-year-old player’s contract with Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side expired at the end of the season, and even though the club wanted to keep him they were yet to commence any negotiation with the player.

Samuel Anim Addo, who managed the prodigy, disclosed to the Graphic Sports that the player was still with Kotoko, but he [manager] had not been formally approached to commence any negotiation for a new deal.

“They [Kotoko] have expressed interest in the player but we are still waiting for them to come and discuss a new deal,” he said.

Cudjoe has been one of the most exciting young talents on the local scene as he featured prominently in Maxwell Konadu’s side during the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign and is expected to contribute significantly to their upcoming campaign.

The youngster made six appearances for Kotoko and scored a goal in their 2-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs in a fifth week league fixture.

A fan favourite, Cudjoe have had trials with European giants Bayern Munich, which reportedly have expressed interest in the teenager’s signature once he turns 18.

It is believed that some local clubs are also watching unfolding events and ready to make a move for Cudjoe, if no deal is reached between the player and Kotoko.

According to Mr Anim Addo, that agreement with the German side was still valid and it was their intention to ship him out once he attained the required age, but at the moment it was his desire to see the teenage sensation play for Kotoko in the upcoming season.
