Acheampong, who is now with Petro Atletico de Luanda of Angola, took time off his team's pre-season in Johannesburg to visit the Stars.

He said his gesture was to motivate the team to go all out in the CHAN 2014 tournament and make Ghana proud.

"Our team is here in South Africa and as a Ghanaian, I need to do something to encourage my former colleagues to work  hard to reach the final," Acheampong told www.ghanafa.org after his presentation.

"Motivation is very important in football and at this stage we need to progress from the group stage.

“So I asked permission from my club officials and it was granted.

"It's nice seeing all of them and I have been very impressed with their composure and togetherness”, he added.

Acheampong believeed the players would give of their best in the competition.

"I haven't had enough time to watch the games but I am confident they will go all out in this competition, he stated..
