Hearts coach, Kenichi on 5-match probation

The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak had at its last meeting decided to place Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi on five-match probation in the upcoming Premier League.

According to a source, the Japanese-born American’s fate hangs on his performance in the matches as failure to meet that target will earn him the sack.

The source further stated that prior to the meeting, management had resolved to give Kenichi one last chance in the team’s friendly match against a Nigerian Premier League side, Ifeanyi Ubah FC, which would be played on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, but the decision was overturned because his employers believed that the trainer needed sufficient time to turn the fortunes of the club around.

Since he was appointed last October, the 46-year-old trainer had yet to win any match with the fans growing increasingly impatient.

Under his charges, the Phobians lost back to back to Libyan side, Al Ahli Tripoli, in two international friendly matches. The team also performed poorly in the first ever G6 tournament organised by the Ghana League Clubs Association last month.
