Cape Coast Stadium ready August

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, has given the assurance that the much-awaited Cape Coast Stadium would be ready for use by August this year.

He explained that when completed, the stadium would present schools within Cape Coast and its environs a modern facility to exhibit their potential in sports.

The Minister, who was speaking at the 3rd China-Ghana Friendship Invitational Golf tournament at the Celebrity Golf Course at Tema last Saturday, explained that the decision to situate the stadium at Cape Coast was to help develop the talents of the several schools located in the area.

While appreciating the China government for the gesture  to build the stadium, he observed that China’s contribution towards the development of the various sectors of the economy would go a long way to solidify the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He also praised the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, H.E Baahong, for facilitating the distribution of sports facilities to several communities in the country,  adding that her idea of supporting golf tournaments gave an indication that her support for sports development in the country cut across disciplines and lauded her for that.

Mr Ayariga appealed to other Embassies and High Commissions in the country to also take up the support of other sports, in the country to help in the development of sports and pledged his Ministry’s readiness to support them.

He also used the opportunity to acknowledge Tullow Oil Ghana for spending $3m in the renovation of the Achimota Golf Course and charged the Chinese to encourage their companies to emulate what Tullow had done.
