Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League : Sapholda in bright start

A ruthless Sapholda side last Saturday made known their intention to reclaim the Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League seniors trophy with a 7-1 drubbing of Veterans at the Theodosiah Okoh Hockey pitch in Accra.

With defending champions, NDK Financiers, not in action on the opening weekend, Alfred Armah’s early strike and a James Mason brace put Sapholda 3-0 up within 20 minutes before Charles Agbeko pulled a goal back for Veterans with a brilliantly worked field goal.

Sapholda’s Armah grabbed his personal second early in the second half after which Mason completed his hat-trick to make it 5-1. This was followed by two field goals that completed Veterans’ humiliation and sent Sapholda to the summit of the senior’s league log.

In the other game involving seniors Multisticks defeated Citizens 1-0, courtesy a field goal from Kwame Issah.

In the men’s division, Police laboured to a 2-1 win over Exchequers of the Bank of Ghana, Goldensticks beat Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) 2-0 and Trustees of SSNIT thumped Reformers by 3-0 in the late game.

Police ladies team gained a walkover against Extinguishers, who did not turn up for the tie, while Amazing Grace overcame Ark Ladies by 2-1 and GRA routed Reformers 4-1 to top the ladies log.

Young Financiers whitewashed a hapless Tema Manhea team by 9-0 to record the highest-scoring game of week one and La Juniors stole victory against Ark Boys when a 69th minute winner from Godfred Mensah settled a boring tie.
