The three, Messrs Oko-Nikoi Dzani,Ebenezer  Frimpong and Georgina Sam, were presented with their respective portraits and citations in recognition of their support to hockey in diverse ways.

While Mr Oko-Nikoi Dzani was recognised for his lifetime contribution to hockey, Mr Ebenezer Frimpong  and Georgina Sam were honoured for their contributions  to sport.

The President of the GHA, Mr Richard Akpokavie, who read the citations that accompanied the honour,  said Ghana Hockey had over the years been blessed with many personalities who had sacrificed and pushed boundaries to enable the sport to thrive in the face of challenges.

He said Mr Dzani’s  association with the sport dated  back to his  secondary school days, an interest he sustained over the years which he  took into the corporate world.

“You have played a lead role in the organisation of hockey in Ghana, the continent of Africa and globally since 1996. You have given so much to the sport: serving as the Chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association, a Council Member and the 2nd Vice President of the African Hockey Federation.

Oko Nikoi-Dzani, we acknowledge your lifetime devotion to the sport, carrying hockey on your shoulders with great impact for over two decades. We celebrate you as a True Icon and Patriot of Ghana Hockey in modern times, and thank you for your immeasurable contribution to the sport,” he said.

Mr Akpokavie also described Ebenezer Frimpong, a former hockey  star and now a coach, as someone who was “outstanding as a player whose selfless dedication, commitment and passion for hockey was truly exemplary. You are thus recognised for contributing in various ways to uplift the sport and as an Exceptional Role Model.

For Georgina Sam, he described her  as an exemplary leader for club and country  “who had been recognised as a Players’ Player and a Fine Ambassador of this marvelous sport”.
