IOC to complete Olympic Complex at Amasaman
The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr Thomas Bach, has reiterated his strong support for the continuing development of sports in Ghana.
To that end, he has given an assurance of his support to the completion of the ANOCA Sports Complex at Amasaman which he said would be a future youth centre of excellence.
The project, which is yet to be finalised, potentially will be supported by the IOC, the Government of Ghana and other partners and it would be dedicated to the identification and training of young talented athletes as well as for the use of the local community living around the centre.
This came to light when the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr Thomas Bach, met at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The GOC entourage included the Secretary General, Mr Richard Akpokavie, Mr Frederick Lartey Otu, Treasurer, and Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaid, legal counsel.
The three-day trip by the GOC officials was sponsored by Mobility International, a Ghanaian private organisation headed by Mr Francis Boateng.
