The Founder of King Faisal FC, Alhaji Karim Gruzah, has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Simeon-Okraku to resign, insisting that he has not done enough to justify a continued stay in office.
Speaking to the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday, the veteran football administrator said he supported calls for the FA president to step down, citing what he described as a lack of significant progress in Ghana football under his leadership.
“I support those calling for his resignation because in the last eight years of his administration, he has done nothing to improve Ghana football,” he lamented.
According to Gruzah, the domestic league has struggled to make the desired impact, while juvenile and women’s football have also failed to meet expectations under the current administration.
He further questioned the achievements of Okraku’s tenure, arguing that Ghana had yet to win a major international trophy since he assumed office.
“We cannot say we have a league now and every international trophy we won came long before he became the FA president. So, what is his achievement?” he queried.
The outspoken football administrator maintained that Ghana football needed a change in leadership, adding that several qualified individuals within the GFA could take over the position if Okraku decided to step aside.
Grusah argued that the availability of capable individuals meant the association would not struggle to find a successor should the incumbent president leave office.
He cited the emergence of former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi as an example, noting that before he succeeded Nyantakyi, not many people had anticipated that he(Kurt) would eventually become the head of the association.
