Gyan, Eto’o give $110,000 to Appiah’s Foundation
Stephen Appiah's former teammates and friends were out in full support of his fundraising dinner last Friday at the Banquet Hall of the State House with Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, ending the night with the highest pledge of $ 60,000.
The Al Ain goal-getter topped Camerounian Samuel Eto'o's earlier pledge of $50,000 with all proceeds going towards the charity projects of the Stephen Appiah Foundation, which aims at improving access to education and health to deprived Ghanaians nation-wide.

Interestingly, both men (Gyan and Eto'o) arrived at the tail-end of the dinner which was steered by the Apostle General of the Royalhouse Chapel International, Reverend Sam Korankye Ankrah.
By the time the newly signed on Antalyaspor striker, Eto'o, was ushered in by his entourage, the leading pledge was a GHC 100,000 by Nana Kwame Bediako, CEO of Wonda World Properties.
The Camerounian's $50,000 pledge created a much-needed buzz among the quiet gathering at the venue till Gyan arrived moments later to steal the limelight with his $60,000 pledge.
Other pledges on the night were made by Ibrahim Mahama (GHC 50,000), Giuseppe Colucci ($ 10,000), former chairman of the GFA, Nana Sam Brew-Butler (GHC 25,000), the Executive Committee of the GFA (GHC 20,000) and the Black Stars Management Committee (GHC 20,000).
In an address at the event, Appiah delivered anecdotes about his career, urging all Ghanaians to learn to serve "selflessly and not selfishly".
He also disclosed that the proudest moments of his career were everytime that he played for or captained the Black Stars.
