Kotoko humble Techiman City

Striker Dauda Mohmmed  yesterday scored a hat -trick to lift former defending league champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the second position by beating debutants Techiman City 4-2 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

A former player of Kotoko, Stephen Manu, handled the ball in the penalty box for referee Kennedy Padi to point to the spot. Dauda converted in the 20th minute and added another in the 23rd minute after capitalising on a defensive blunder by the visitors.

The Kotoko predator popped up again in the 48th minute to deliver a cheeky chip to the far right corner for his third goal of the match.

It was a torrid moment for the visitors whose head coach, Yusif Abubakari, abandoned the club after he was chased  by irate fans for drawing 1-1 with AshantiGold in last mid-week’s clash at home.

Assistant Nana Joe Adarkwa appeared not ready to step into the shoes of his boss, as the boys chased their shadows for most parts of the 90 minutes of play.

Techiman City pulled one back in the 63rd minute through Okyere Sarpong’s header but Kotoko immediately responded  through  Edwin Tuffour Frimpong a minute later.

Ebenezer Agypong further reduced the tally for City in the 71st minute.
