Legon Cities vow to break Oly hearts on Friday

The Coach of Legon Cities Football Club (LCFC), Goran 'Kuc' Barjaktarević has vowed that his team will claim all three points when they face Accra Great Olympics on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to Kuc, he expects the tie to be very open given that the game is a regional derby between to teams who play at the same stadium.

The German tactician said although Legon Cities was down in 15th place out of 18 teams on the league log, he was used to being under such pressure as a coach with many years of experience.

"Olympics is one of the three most popular clubs in Ghana, so we are expecting a very open game in this city derby... Like a 50-50 game," coach Kuch said at a press briefing on Wednesday in Accra.

The Royals (as LCFC are known) along with Eleven Wonders and Accra Hearts of Oak have scored the joint least number of goals after nine games in the Ghana Premier League - 6 - but LCFC have leaked 11 goals at the other end.

However, Kuch is not worried about this development because he insists he "is still building his team".

"The job I am doing now was to be done three months ago," said Kuch who was appointed coach in December 2019.

"I have to work on my team not offence or defence. In Europe, we have a saying that a good attack wins you one match but a good defence wins you championships.

Cities skipper Jeffrey Degorl said he was saddened anytime he peered at the GPL given the low standing of his side but he and his teammates would give their all to propel LCFC up the table.

"When I look at the table, I feel sad and I am not happy about it. We would give our all to ensure that we win Friday's game," Degorl stressed.

The spokesperson of LCFC, Kwame Dwomoh Agyemamg later announced that there will be free entry for all ladies who wear a shade of red to the match venue in Friday, a halftime performance by songstress Wendy Shay and a free bar of chocolate for all Matchday spectators.
