Medeama, WAFA win away matches

Tarkwa-based Medeama SC continued to entrench themselves firmly on top of the league with a deserving 2-0 win over Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.

A brace by top marksman Prince Opoku Agyemang in the 12th and 29th minutes of the first half was all that Medeama needed to carry the day.

Agyemang first announced his presence on the field in the 12th minute when he pounced on a lose ball from Nana Babil and fired a bullet which caught Legon Cities goalkeeper Winfred Komla ball watching

In the 29th minute,the Medeama striker increased the tally for his side at a time Legon Cities were striving to cancel the lead.

At the Akoon Park at Tarkwa, visiting Ashgold played a more determined game as they came from behind to defeat Karela 2-1 to bring the smiles back on the faces of their fans.

After a scoreless first half, Diawisie Taylor broke the deadlock for Karela in the 65th minute when he converted a penalty. 

A few minutes later Samed Ibrahim brought Ashgold at par when he headed in the equaliser, and in the 70th minute Damlen Wobenu increased the tally for the visitors.

Berekum Golden City

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) travelled to Berekum to defeat Chelsea 2-1 in a match that attracted many football fans to the Golden City Park.

It was Eric Asamany who became the hero of WAFA when he connected home the match winner during injury time to secure the maximum points for his side.

Chealsea opened the scoring when Stephen Amazonia connected a spot kick after Sampson Aegophony handled the ball in the box, but WAFA captain Abukir Ibrahim levelled up in the 72nd minute before Asamany stole the show during injury time.

At the Dr Nduom Park at Elmina, Sharks ran away with a 2-1 victory over visiting Dreams FC.

Augustine Owusu scored both goals for Sharks but Suleman Mohammed got a consolation goal for Dreams FC.

Other matches

At Bechem, Aduana Stars held Bechem United to a goalless draw and at the Nana Ameyaw Park at Techiman. Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs also held Eleven Wonders to a 1-1 draw.
