Minister to launch MTN-SWAG Awards Mon

The Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), Mr Edwin Nii Lante  Vanderpuye, will join the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) on Monday to launch the 41st MTN-SWAG Awards at the MTN head office at Ridge in Accra at 10a.m.

This will be the sixth consecutive year MTN-Ghana will be headline sponsoers of the prestigious awards  since the two bodies joined hands. It is also the second time the minister will be joining his professional association for an official event since taking up the ministerial job.

MTN would use the occasion to announce its package for the awards night, while SWAG would use the launch to announce to the public details of this year’s event.

MTN-SWAG Awards is one of the longest-running sports events in the country, established by the association in 1974 to recognise and reward the achievements of top performers of all sporting disciplines as well as personalities connected with sports in the country.

SWAG and MTN would renew their relationship after five years of sponsoring the event.

In all, 26 sportsmen and women, drawn from the various sporting disciplines, will be honoured on the night for their performance in the year 2015.
