Ministry set to launch Sports Lottery
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) is to launch a National Sports Lottery to raise funds for the development of sports in Ghana.
Disclosing this at the weekend, Mahama Ayariga, the sector Minister, stated that the lottery would serve as an avenue for raising funds to fund the development of sports in the country.

He explained further that the funds would be invested in sports infrastructure development, talent identification and grooming.
“A percentage of the proceeds will also be devoted to the development of disability sports in Ghana," he added.
According to Ayariga, the involvement of persons with disability in sports and their great feats have contributed to the gradual erosion of myths and negative perception.
“Persons with disability are no longer seen as cursed people from cursed families, but rather people with equal qualities who when given opportunity will contribute to the society, like anyone else,” Ayariga noted.
Bishop Cornelius Adjah-Coffie, President of the National paralympic Committee (NPC), appealed to the government to give disability sports a special attention.
Over 300 athletes from the 10 regions of Ghana have converged at the Accra Sports Stadium for the first ever National Paralympic Sports Festival.
