Nana Nketsia V named Guest of Honour at MTN-SWAG Awards
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omahen of Essikado Traditional Area, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the 40th MTN-SWAG Awards, scheduled for the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra on Saturday, October 3.
The traditional ruler will make his second appearance at the prestigious event, after playing a similar role in the 36th edition of the awards in 2011.

He will also use the opportunity to speak on the theme: "The search for sustainable funding for sports the role of the private sector".
The theme was chosen by SWAG as the nation currently grapples with funding challenges confronting the development and promotion of sports in Ghana.
Nana Nketsia was an active sportsman during his secondary school days at Mfantsipim School and competed in javelin, shot put, long jump, cricket and hockey.
He once captained the school’s football team and was in 1971 honoured as Sportsman of the Year at Mfantsipim School.
On the academic field, Nana Nketsia holds a degree in history from the University of Ghana and PhD in African history from the University of Calabar in Nigeria.
He chaired the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, was a board member of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and a former member of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
