National Fencing Academy inaugurated

The Ghana Fencing Association has inaugurated a National Fencing Academy which aims to train over 300 coaches and athletes for the nation.

The facility, located in Tuba-Kasoa, was officially inaugurated last Tuesday by the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Mustapha Ahmed, who also donated 50 bags of cement towards the completion of the school.

 

Dr Ahmed, who was also the chairman of the occasion commended the president of the association, Mohammed Mahadi, for spearheading such a laudable project which he said, would ensure the sustainability of the sport for years to come.

Mr Mahadi also gave the history of the facility which would be known as the Ghana College of Education and Sports upon its completion in August.

The Deputy Director General of NSA, Saka Acquaye, congratulated the Fencing Association for its initiative and encouraged other sports federations to emulate them.

 

The association later presented fencing equipment to the Ghana International School, Three Star School at Denu in the Volta Region, as well as certificates of appreciation to their sponsors, Silver Star Auto and Modern Multimedia.
