National wheelchair team in USA
The National Wheelchair Racing team arrived in the USA last Friday ahead of the Paralympics Games qualifier in Arizona.
Botsyo Nkegbe and McClean Astu Dzidzienyo will represent Ghana in the wheelchair racing competition after they secured sponsorship from Travel Matters and the Ghana Commercial Bank to participate in the qualifiers.
Nkegbe, told the Graphic Sports last Saturday that the team had to pitch camp in the USA early enough to allow them to participate in some competitions before the qualifiers.
“We are grateful to Travel Matters, GCB Bank and other individuals who made it possible for us to travel to the USA to participate in this competition,” an elated Botsyo indicated and said it was great to arrive ahead of the qualifiers.
He said their preparation was in top gear and would ensure they were fit for the competition and assured assured of their readiness to pick a ticket for the Paralympic Games.
He said despite qualifying for the World Championship in Doha last year, they were unable to participate due to financial constraint but the support received from Travel Matters and GCB Bank would enabled them to participate in the competition and an upcoming one in Switzerland.
