Okuapehene's inspiration reignites Tetteh's career dreams

A former national champion, Success 'Brave Warrior' Tetteh, has stated that the words of wisdom of the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Nana Kwasi Akuffo III, have reignited his childhood dreams to pursue global stardom in his career.

Tetteh, a 10-year veteran with 16 career fights as a professional, was in Akropong Akuapem last Friday to support his stablemate, Samuel Martei Laryea, to present his newly-won UBO Africa title to the king of the Akuapem.

Laryea had won the title a week earlier on a boxing show organised in honour of Oseadeeyo Akuffo III, who also sponsored the fight night as a side attraction of the annual Odwira festival of the area.

Emotional moment

Tetteh himself was a winner at the 2022 edition when he claimed a unanimous points decision victory over Abass Ahinful at forecourt of the palace but confesses that he never felt the emotional and spiritual effects of personally meeting and paying homage to the Okuapehene like what he experienced when Laryea was hosted last Friday.

Accompanied by his manager, Emmanuel Koranteng, his coach, Aruna Mohammed, and IBF Africa featherweight champion, Holy Dorgbetor, Tetteh also took the opportunity to present his Ghana Boxing Authority belt to Oseadeeyo Akuffo III.

"It was very surreal when the king beckoned us to also come and greet him, I wasn't expecting that. But he was so calm and friendly, his words of encouragement still ring in my ears, they inspire me a lot," Tetteh said.

"I felt so great when he said in front of all the people at the palace that he believes if we work hard we can get to the level of Azumah Nelson and Mike Tyson. I feel so energised to chase my world title dreams. I am ready to take America by storm," Tetteh added.
