Open taekwondo team tourney today

The Fifth Mission Open Taekwondo Team Championship being organised by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) comes off today at the RLG Sports Hall of the Accra Stadium.

The competition, being sponsored by Alhaji Blackie Bello Enterprise, is aimed at offering young taekwondo talents the necessary exposure to mount the international stage and also compete against international stars.
It is also to sharpen the skills and build the confidence of young taekwondo athletes to be able to win laurels for the country both at world events and the All Africa Games.
The Secretary General of the GTF, Patrick Johnson, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic said, “this is the fifth successive competition being organised by the national federation”.
He said the competition had in the past attracted participants of the discipline from countries like Togo, Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire but it was the expectation of the federation that more countries would take part in this year’s event.
“Taekwondo clubs from across the 10 regions of the country have also been preparing towards the upcoming championship,” he noted.
