Owusu-Abeyie and Andre Fomitschow both scored their goals for Nijmegen from direct free kicks.

The clash against the team from the German fifth division took place at Sportpark South in Groesbeek.

Owusu-Abeyie's team were without a couple of first team regulars who are away with their national teams.

Nijmegen scored the opener early in the game through a well-placed free kick by Owusu-Abeyie.

Nijmegen were dangerous throughout the clash but the final pass always went wrong.

Just before the end of the game, NEC managed to score a goal again from a free kick. This time it was Andre Fomitschow who struck in the dying embers.

Abeyie played for Netherlands as a youth international before switching nationality to represent Ghana where he earned 18 caps and played at the 2010 World Cup finals.
