The Return of the Dragon ; Banku to be in Powers corner
Ahead of next month’s ‘ Return of the Dragon’ slugfest, Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, is backing his age-long boxing foe Ayitey Powers to defeat Beninois Anicet Amoussou in their January 3 bout at the Unity Park at Tantra Hill in Accra.
Banku contends that it will be a disaster for Ghana boxing if Powers loses to Amossou, calling on Ghanaians to offer their prayers for the Ghanaian whom he describes as a friend despite their ring rivalry.

Powers had hinted he would resign if he lost to the Beninois in their much touted bout but Banku, who defeated Powers in their famous bout at the Accra Stadium last May maintained that he would throw his weight behind his bosom friend on the night.
“I will sing for him, I will be at the ringside and throw my weight behind him. I will cheer him on and perform for him on the night”, Banku said in an interview with the Graphic Sports.
Already, a GHC50,000.00 contract for the fight has been signed by Powers which is expected to boost the morale of the Australian-based Ghanaian fighter and also boost his chances for a proposed rematch with Kamoko.
Another major fight on the bill is a Commonwealth welterweight eliminator between Benjamin Ashley and Joseph Lamster.
The winner of the bout, according to the organisers, will meet British Frankie Gavin for the ultimate title.
