Outgoing Asante Kotoko coach, Eric Tinkler, has hinted at a possible return to the club in the future, insisting that his work with the Porcupine Warriors is “not finished” despite his decision to leave.
Tinkler, who abruptly terminated his two-year contract with Kotoko after just four Ghana Premier League matches, delivered an emotional farewell message to the players before leaving the country.
While thanking the players and officials for their support, hard work and discipline during his brief spell, the South African coach suggested that his departure might not be the end of his relationship with the club.
“You never know, I might be back because the job is not finished,” Tinkler told the players.
The 56-year-old coach said his objective was to guide Kotoko to the top of the Ghanaian game and expressed confidence that the team could still achieve that ambition despite his departure.
“Our target was to get there this season but I still firmly believe we can. We have enough quality here and the coaches, Diogo [Peral] and Hamza [Obeng], can achieve that,” he said.
Tinkler also praised the players for their commitment and professionalism during his short tenure.
“I want to thank you for all your hard work, dedication, respect and discipline that you guys showed me during the time that I was here,” he said.
Tinkler was appointed Kotoko head coach in July on a two-year contract but requested to be released from the agreement for what the club described as personal reasons.
