VIDEO: Gareth Bale inspires Real Madrid to defeat Getafe 2-0

Gareth Bale scored as Real Madrid started La Liga life without Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane with a comfortable win over Getafe.

Dani Carvajal headed in Real's opening league goal under Julen Lopetegui after Bale's cross was punched to him by goalkeeper David Soria.

Bale hit the bar with a diving header before turning home Marco Asensio's cross to wrap up the win.

Asensio hit the post in the second half as Real cruised without adding a third.

Getafe's only shot on target came in injury time when Angel's volley was easily held by Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican started instead of Thibaut Courtois, with the summer signing from Chelsea an unused substitute.
