Joe Mensah is new country manager for Kosmos Energy Ghana
Kosmos Energy has attained total Ghanaian staffing of its operations with the appointed Joe K. Mensah as its new country manager, replacing Ken Keag, who has served since 2013.
Announcing the appointment, the Chairman and Chief Executive officer Kosmos Energy, Mr. Andrew G. Inglis, said Mensah brings extensive local and international experience to the company, and is an excellent addition to its team.
“Under Mr. Mensah’s leadership, with a 100 percent Ghanaian staff, supported by an independent advisory council comprised of respected Ghanaian business leaders, Kosmos is uniquely positioned among international companies to understand local interests and create a shared agenda that is mutually beneficial to both company and country.
“On behalf of everyone at Kosmos Energy, I would like to thank Ken Keag for the significant contributions he has made to our operations in Ghana. We wish Ken and his family all the best for the future,” Mr. Inglis said in a statement issued in Accra.
The move was based on Kosmos’ mutually agreed succession plan for Mr. Keag , who will retire from the company by the end of this month.
The statement noted that Mr. Mensah has extensive business experience and joined Kosmos most recently from IBM Ghana, where he was the country general manager in charge of all aspects of the company’s operations.
It said during his more than 30 years with IBM, Mr. Mensah held a variety of leadership roles in sales and marketing before establishing IBM’s presence in Ghana in 2009.
