Sentinel REIT wins 'Best Transaction of the Year' at Africa Property Investment Summit

Sentinel Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) has been awarded the 'Best Transaction of the Year' at the 15th Africa Property Investment (API) Summit, held in Cape Town. 

The award recognizes Sentinel’s acquisition of the iconic One Airport Square (OAS) building, located in the prestigious Airport City enclave of Accra, Ghana.

The accolade was jointly received by Sentinel and Nedbank Property Finance Africa, which provided financial backing for the transaction through a combination of a term loan facility and a short-term bridge facility. 

“We are honoured to be recognized by leading players in Africa’s real estate space,” said Kisseih Antonio, CEO of Sentinel Asset Management, which promotes and manages the REIT. “We extend our gratitude to the pension fund schemes and managers who contributed the equity funding for the acquisition. We are also delighted to share this award with Nedbank, whose commitment was key in closing this landmark deal.”

Mr. Antonio also outlined the REIT’s future ambitions, emphasizing how the OAS transaction will serve as a foundation to build a robust real estate portfolio. This, he explained, will offer investors an alternative asset class to hedge against inflation and help diversify risk in their investment portfolios.
