The move is in line with efforts to ensure a stable and reliable network for customers.
The centre would house its network infrastructure, including computer systems and its accessories, environmental controls such as fire suppression, air conditioning, and other security devices
At a brief ceremony to inaugurate the centre at its head office in Accra on Wednesday, the Chief Technology and Information Officer of the company, Mr Ron Reddick, explained that the centre had a robust surveillance system to guard against infiltration by hackers.
“The data centre is also in full compliance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, Act 843, which guarantees that customer data is properly stored and managed,” he said.
He said all companies relied on a robust information system for business continuity and that the data centre would enhance the process.
Facilities
The three-tier data centre has a dual multi-layer power supply to all the systems to enhance consistent service delivery.
It has a rack capacity of 110 to provide enough infrastructural space for other projects to meet the needs of customers.
The equipment room has switches, cooling systems, and a building monitoring system to monitor the operation of all the equipment.
