VIDEO: McDan urges business community to support President Mahama for national prosperity
The Executive Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, has called on Ghana’s business community to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama in his efforts to steer the country towards economic recovery and national development.
In an interview on Oyerepa TV, the entrepreneur, popularly known as McDan, dismissed suggestions that he harbours political ambitions, stating unequivocally that he has no interest in contesting for the presidency.
“For the presidency, no. I want to be very influential but not to be president. I want to help the youth. I want to help this country. Right now, we have a new president, and all businessmen have to support him to succeed. If he succeeds, the country will succeed, and all of us will benefit,” McDan stated.
He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among private sector players, urging his colleagues to put national interest above partisanship. According to McDan, a thriving Ghanaian economy is one in which both government and the private sector work hand in hand to achieve shared prosperity.
“We are in the private sector, and I want to make money there and support,” he added.
His remarks come at a time when many observers are urging greater cooperation between the state and private industry to tackle youth unemployment, boost local entrepreneurship, and stabilise the economy.
