‘1000 Smiles’ turns stars into waiters

Some well-known hiplife and  gospel artistes found time to ‘wait’ on people living in and around Sodom and Gomorrah , a suburb of Accra at a New Year’s day party organised by the Accra- based music and video production house, Ohene Media  (OM).

Dubbed 1000 Smiles, the party attracted over one thousand people, mostly children living in the community. They were given food, water and soft drinks.

Musicians including Okyeame Kwame, Tina Asante, OJ Black, Cabum and Luther joined staff of OM to share food to the people.

CEO of Ohene Media, Abraham Ohene Djan said the 1000 Smiles event was the company's way of giving back to the poor and needy in society.

He said the party was organised to put smiles on the faces of the less- privileged  to make them feel part of the festive season.

"Last year we paid YouTube royalties to several Ghanaian artistes. We supported musician Kwabena Kwabena to raise funds for the Cardio Centre at  Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and also organised the One Ghana concert, a free open- air concert aimed at promoting peace and tolerance through music.  Since Christmas is a season to love and share, we decided to share with the less privilege," the OM boss said.

He thanked Midas Insurance Brokers, Belaqua Mineral Water and Vits for sponsoring the 1000 Smiles event.
