At the official opening, founder of Ajike Shea Centre, Ajike Dsani noted the company aims among many things to create jobs for women in the Northern Region of Ghana to gain financial freedom.

“The company is committed at promoting equity, dignity and fairness through its ‘Shea Queens’ who are very instrumental in sourcing the raw materials until they are packaged into the various finishing products.

“Even though shea butter is a good beautifying product, many people shun away from its use because they are not well packaged and these Shea Queens have supported better packaging and branding for products sold at Ajike Shea Centre,” she said.

Ms Dsani added that as part of its coporate social responsibility programme, Ajike Shea Centre has also initiated solely funded educational projects including the construction of a yet to be completed 13-classroom school building and paying of some teachers in the communities it operates in the Northern Region.

Ms Dsani was assisted by her able team of Shea Queens to cut a cake made with shea butter in line with its promotion of the shea  product.

“We are hoping to be the number one producer of shea butter products in Africa and create more employment for everyone especially women in the shea butter business in the Northen Region”, she said
