Ashanti Regional Minister announces plans to bring Kumawood stars to SHS campuses for entertainment
Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene unveils initiative to bring Kumawood stars to Senior High Schools for entertainment, promoting Ghanaian arts and culture.
This move aims to boost student engagement, introduce them to homegrown talent, and potentially partner with the local fashion industry to support the creative economy in the region.
The initiative similarly aims to weave elements of health, fashion, and the creative arts into school activities to help shape students through culture and homegrown talent.
“There are plans underway to bring on board Kumawood stars and singers from the region to your schools during entertainment on Saturdays on your respective campuses,” he said. “So those of you who want to see Her Excellency McBrown, Kwaku Manu, Lil Win, and others will get the opportunity to interact with them right on your school grounds.”
Dr. Amoakohene also floated the idea of Kumawood partnering with local fashion designers to create costumes for their film productions, offering valuable industry experience for emerging designers and a boost to the creative sector.
“Our goal is to instill a sense of pride in our heritage,” he said. “When students are exposed to local content early on, they grow up appreciating their identity and become more committed to the nation’s development.
Last month, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, took a significant step to revitalise the film industry in the region by establishing a committee to identify and address the challenges hindering its growth.( Read also:Ashanti Regional Minister sets up committee to help revitalise Ghanaian film industry)
