Ebo Whyte‘s Roverman Productions marks 60 plays with ‘The Ex Factor” this weekend
Since 2008, renowned playwright Ebo Whyte and his Roverman Productions have been energising Ghana's theatre scene with quarterly productions.
Each play has sparked meaningful discussions on pressing social issues. After 17 years, Uncle Ebo and Roverman Productions will mark their 60th play with ‘The Ex Factor’ at the National Theatre this weekend.
'The Ex Factor' spotlights factors such as money, love, and pride that define people’s worth.
The play tells the story of how people define their worth and value by material possessions. For twin brothers Pee and Kay, a fortune of owning a mansion each and having over a million dollars define their worth.
For Viva, it’s her dignity. The term is different for her fiancé, John, who believes a tempting job offer is key in defining his worth.
For Mr Adom, it’s something far more extravagant—a luxurious world cruise aboard a custom yacht, with none other than Viva, his son’s love interest, by his side.
As fortunes clash and loyalties are tested, the play unravels ambitions and a battle where the ultimate prize isn’t wealth but the power to choose one’s destiny.
In 2022, Roverman Productions marked its 50th play with He Said, She Said and the latest play comes after a long list of other popular plays by Roverman such as What Dad Left Behind, Devil’s Wife, Different Shades of Women, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, Life is Someway, The Day Dad Came, Sins of the Fathers, Trials of the Ghanaian, Don’t Mess with a Woman, Everyone Has a Secret, Apartment N1, What's My Name?, Men Run, Women Cry and Last Flight.
The Ex Factor will be staged from Friday, April 4 to Friday, April 6, with encores on Fridays, April 11, 12, and 13.
Show times are Fridays at 7 pm (1 show only), and Saturdays at 4 pm and 8 pm and Sundays at 1 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm, respectively.
