Hit-Maker Season 2 final list out

It was a daunting process for Bessa Simmons, Ofie Kodjoe and Zapp Mallet but they finally came out with the names of the 12 acts to contest for honours in the MTN Hit-Maker Season 2 programme.

Those who made it are Abigail Antwi, Albert Buabeng, Stephen ‘Kofi Korea’  Kim, Olevya Aba, Fiifi Sey Armah, Priziners (group), Jamilatu Mohammed, Miguel Oduro Daniels, Nana Adobea, Hussein Musah, Koo Ntakara and Gilbert Bossu.

“Now that we know who are going into the Hit-Maker house, we will formally outdoor those, assign producer/engineers to them and it would be business all the way,” said Ivan Quashigah of Farmhouse, the company producing the Hit-Maker show.

With some experience in her pocket as a backing singer for some known artistes, Abigail Antwi believes she is hard-working enough to make it to the last four in the contest. She lives in Accra though she is from Adumasa in the Eastern Region.

Albert Buabeng has long dreamt of popularising the African inflection he has brought to the gospel music he sings and has no doubt at all that Hit-Maker would help him do that quickly.

Fairly well-known already in Tema where he lives, Kofi Korea knows his way around a recording studio. He is coming to the competition with 12 songs already under his belt. He says he is going to blow everybody’s mind with his music and cannot wait for the contest proper to get rolling.

Few wannabes get into competitions with their own self-cooked styles and Olevya Aba, a resident of Nungua in the Greater Accra Region has something she calls new pop or new soul. The Regent University student trusts her writing skills and is looking forward to being a big international star.

Fiifi Sey Armah is a Tourism student at Takoradi Polytechnic. He is into hiplife and believes the live shows he had appeared on would help him sail smoothly through the Hit-Maker contest.

George Kwasi Sarpong and Christopher Boakye Yiadom make up the Priziners, the only group in this year’s contest. Both guys are graduates of the University of Cape Coast. They say everyone is a prisoner to something so music fans would soon see if the Priziners have been imprisoned by an obsession to succeed at music.

A confident rapper for some years now, Jamilatu Mohammed sees herself as a total entertainer capable of enhancing her musical ambitions when she wins the MTN Hit-Maker Season 2 show.

After running a recording studio for about a decade with a cousin, Miguel Daniels understands the ins and outs of making music well. Followers of Hit-Maker would be keen to see how that experience works to his advantage.

If previous studio experience is really anything to go by, then Nana Adobea should be smiling and feeling she would go far in the competition. She has worked with some very well-known names and should get encouragement from them as Hit-Maker progresses.

Hussein Musah is a graduate of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) where he qualified as a film director. He has been in some music contests  here and elsewhere so he has a fair idea of how to please judges. Maybe that can help him succeed at Hit-Maker.

Koo Ntakara from Koforidua is aware of his humble background but does not want that to be a hindrance to his dream of being an international superstar. He knows a good showing at Hit-Maker would help push his dream forward.

Acting and modeling are some of the useful skills Gilbert Bossu has acquired since leaving Senior High School. He says he has listened to music from a lot of different artistes and is sure what he has distilled out of that route would come in handy at Hit-Maker.

The maiden edition of MTN Hit-Maker provided lots of entertainment to television viewers while providing the contestants with valuable knowledge about the music business.

“We are all looking forward to another season of thrills for contestants, fans and judges. All we want is the best to win and move on to add something to the music of Ghana and the world,” judge Bessa Simmons said.
