With the world evolving on the wheels of technology daily, the band section of the Ghana Police Service has seen the need to equip their musicians with the latest trends within the music environment.

The Police band is currently undergoing a two-week intensive training with some music facilitators from Germany at the Police Training Depot, Tesano in Accra.

As part of the training, the musicians are being taught some pertinent skills on string, brass, woodwind, percussion and other instruments.

In an interview with the Director of the Police Band, Supt. Frank Hukporti and some of the musicians, they admitted picking up some useful tips in the ongoing training exercise and were fired up to put them into practice.

“We now know it is important to do some physical exercise before sitting behind an instrument. We have also gained some fresh insights into breathing techniques and ways of conducting as well as being introduced to some instruments which we only find on television, books and online,” the Police musicians stated.

The leader of the German team, Mr Stephen Flore, said he was impressed with the high level of musicianship exhibited by members of the Police band and hoped they would put the things they had learnt during the training exercise to effective use.

He also suggested to the band to acquire some new and modern instruments to augment what they currently have.
