Prophesying about people's death doesn’t make you a powerful prophet- Sonnie Badu
Gospel musician Sonnie Badu is entreating prophets to desist from prophesying about people’s death, noting that prophets who foretell people's deaths are merely prophets of doom.
In a Facebook post today, the Baba hitmaker noted that prophecy should be life-affirming and redemptive, rather than focusing on negative outcomes.
According to him, the role of a prophet is to uplift and encourage, not to predict catastrophic events or demise and challenged them to apply wisdom in such utterances.
Sonnie Badu said prophesying someone’s death doesn’t make one powerful, since there’s always a redemption when a revelation comes.
Badu's comments come as a response to prophetic declarations on the death of Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang following the announcement of her ill-health recently.
In a statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Saturday, March 29, it mentioned that the Vice President had been flown to seek further medical care abroad based on expert recommendations.
This was after being admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday after experiencing a sudden illness following her official duties on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Since then, a number of videos of prophets talking about the Vice President has been popping up, which Sonnie Badu strongly condemns. He wrote: “I have seen, in recent times, prophets lose family members, and when you see how devastated and broken they were, you would understand that losing a family member is no joke.
“Dear major and minor prophets, there is something called the word of wisdom, which simply means that whatever you see, you should speak with wisdom. Prophesying someone’s death does not make you powerful; rather, it makes you a prophet of doom .. and I can tell you for free once there is revelation then there is redemption…. Revelation without redemption is not God speaking ….
“I plead with all prophets, both major and minor, to apply wisdom because the people you mention have family members, and such prophecies bring fear. As you grow, you mature in the things of God.
“To our Vice President, @njoagyemang—Mummy, get well soon. Please take time to rest. The truth is, you gave your all during the campaign and have not rested. I am praying for you. Love you loads, Mummy(sic)”.
