Royal House Chapel and Ozon Media to host Mother’s Day event in Belgium for Ghanaian diaspora
Ghanaian culture, family values, and diaspora engagement will take centre stage in Europe as Royal House Chapel, Belgium, in partnership with Ozon Media, prepares to host a landmark Mother’s Day celebration on 9th May 2025 in Evergem, Belgium.
Under the theme “Parenting Affecting Ghanaians in Europe and the Diaspora,” the event promises to blend rich cultural expression with meaningful dialogue on the evolving challenges and responsibilities of parenting within Ghanaian communities abroad.
According to the organisers, the occasion will bring together a distinguished roster of speakers and performers who represent the diversity and strength of the Ghanaian identity. “This event is not only to celebrate mothers but to provoke dialogue on the critical role of parenting in shaping future generations of Ghanaians in Europe and beyond,” a statement from the organising committee read.
Among the notable speakers expected to address attendees are International Diplomatic Consultant Farouk Al-Wahab, the Chief Priest of Gua Nummo – Nummo Gbele Nfo III, and Queen Mother of the Akyekyere Community in the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area – Nana Badu Anna II. Celebrated Ghanaian media personality and gender advocate Akumaa Mama Zimbi will also deliver remarks on parenting and family values, joined by other experts and dignitaries.
The event will also be steeped in Ghanaian cultural tradition, with the Jaynii Cultural Troupe from Accra set to deliver captivating performances of indigenous drumming and dance. Their participation is expected to offer attendees—particularly second-generation diasporans—a vivid connection to their heritage.
Musically, the day will resonate with inspiration and praise. Award-winning gospel artist Nana Kweku Osei, known widely as Nacee, will perform with his full band, alongside fellow gospel sensations Rose Adjei and Odehyieba Priscilla, whose soul-lifting songs have earned them acclaim across the Ghanaian gospel scene.
To add a light-hearted and entertaining touch, veteran Ghanaian actor and entertainer 'Koofori' will serve as Master of Ceremonies, guiding the event with his trademark humour and charisma.
The event has also earned the official endorsement of the Diaspora Affairs Directorate at the Office of the President of Ghana, signalling its alignment with national efforts to deepen engagement with Ghanaian communities abroad and strengthen diaspora bonds.
As excitement builds within the Ghanaian-European community, organisers are optimistic that the gathering will not only honour the sacrifices of mothers but also spark critical conversations about parenting, identity, and generational continuity in the diaspora.
