Wiyaala’s big night at +233

If for nothing else, singer Wiyaala and her Djimba World band’s concert at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra last Saturday, September 19 proved that she has matured and is ready for any big stage anywhere.
For over two hours, the young lady sang and danced and in the process, got everyone else at the show to sing and dance along with her.

Wiyaala played guitar at some points and described herself as contemporary but traditional. Songs from her debut album offered at the programme included Africa, Bunsun and Tinambanyi.
Her backing group was made up of five instrumentalists and three singers. She gave them the chance to also shine at some moments but the night was completely for her as she blended her own songs with material by other well- known performers.
She created a party atmosphere as she gave the excited audience songs by acts such as Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Nash, Tina Turner, Shaggy, Miriam Makeba, Michael Jackson and Osibisa.

She has learnt how to communicate well with an audience and that skill helped her ginger up the crowd who asked for an encore when she eventually left the stage.
She agreed to come back for three more songs and the audience stood and clapped throughout those tracks.
