The essentials of God’s Encounter

The majority of believers today desires for an encounter with the Lord, as they wish to experience a change in their lives.

The question is how can one have an encounter with God since God is a spirit.

In this in piece the author has provided steps to help you meet God in different dimension.

Having encounter with God, simply means getting acquainted with Him.

That is to have a personal commune with Him or experience God’s presence in a miraculous way to bring change to your life.

Whenever someone come up with God there is a possibility of future success.

There can also be a hostile disagreement between the two entity. Thus God and man.

With reference to Gen. 32:1, when the Angel of God meet Jacob, he had an encounter with him, and Jacob experienced a different dimension of the presence of God, in other chapters the bible says Jacob wrestled with the Angle of God till his name was change from Jacob to Israel.

With this instance, ‘Encounter’ could also mean battle or wrestle, the reactions of Jacob gave different meaning to the word ‘encounter’ ‘He wrestles with the Angel’ gen.32: 24. The mean of the word varies depending on where and how the word is used. In this context we will look at ‘encounter’ as ‘to see, relate and feel’.

Conditions to encounter God

Be at a good position: Before you can have an encounter with the Lord, you should be at a vantage position or place, looking at this from the biblical point of view the patriarch also known as ‘heads of the fathers’ meet God at a vantage points, they had an encounter with God at a special place after which they name those places. for instance, Jacob name his place Mahanaim. Which means two camps or two hosts. These are God’s camps His presence dwells and felt there.

Attribution to Psalm 76 verse 1 and 2, says Judah is God known; His names is great in Israel. And in Salem also is His Tabernacle and His dwelling place in Zion. These two verses tells how God is associated with places and his interrelation with those areas.

Judah is a place where God dwells and live, Those early followers meet God, and praise him at Judah. They also spoke about Judah in relation to His power and at Salem we heard them shouting praises to Him because of His wondrous deeds.

Salem is a place where the tent was mounted and has the tabernacles situated and the people come to worship God there.

Situation of of today's world have left us busy and we found ourselves at different places, but to maintain a sweet atmosphere that God can dwell we can create a worshipping moment wherever we are to make the place a sacred place for God to dwell and function.

We can meet God in the process of worship and thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has its own way of connecting us to God. During this act we say prayers to God, appreciate His wonderful works.

In the course of our thanksgiving we engage in sacrifice and offer gift at the sanctuary to God because we believe He dwells there, and sing praises to Him.

Thanksgivings: Whenever you found yourself in the act of worship and thanksgiving the spirit of God ‘come up’ and manifest in different way. The word of God orders the spirit to come and fulfill a purpose on earth when His people gather to praise and worship.

In our thanksgiving we assigned honor and respect to God, and there He connect to us through our worship and thus established an encounter with Him.

Extension of Hands: One main purpose of worship is to revere and venerate God. The extension of hands comes from the word ‘towdah’ which means worship. Worship with the extended hand means to giving of oneself in worship and adoration. To lift your hands unto the Lord and surrender absolutely to God alone. Whenever you extend your hands you ask God to come in to His dwelling place and take dominion of everything.

Note this, as light and darkness can not comprehend, the same way sickness and diseases can not stay when God when comes in when you extend your hands, since the extension of hands opens all door or our soul for an encounter with God.

Singing Praises: When we sing praises or worship songs from our hearts we pour out our heart to God telling Him how powerful and great His is and this kindle His loving-kindness to come down and bless His children. One best way to worship is lying prostrate for God, hence show reverence to God, its help the worshiper to welcome respectfully the spirit of God and making us submissive at His presence. When this happens our souls are lifted up and in-tune with God, thus engage or connect to God.
