The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging a “secret” recruitment exercise and the sale of teaching appointments within the Service, describing the assertions as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 12, the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, said the attention of the GES had been drawn to a viral video and media reports, particularly on Adom FM, which alleged that individuals were paying amounts of up to GH¢25,000 to secure recruitment into the Service.
According to the GES, the claims do not reflect the facts and should be disregarded by the public. Management explained that following the extension of financial clearance in October 2025 for the onboarding of 2024 applicants whose clearances had expired, the recruitment process resumed in line with established procedures.
The Service clarified that during the process, some applicants who had previously been issued with fake appointment letters were given new, genuine appointment letters at no cost, as they could not be onboarded using fraudulent documents.
The GES stressed that it does not charge any fee for recruitment and urged anyone who has been asked to pay money, or who has been approached for such payments, to report the matter immediately to the security agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.
Management further assured the public that the procedures for recruiting new applicants into the Service remain unchanged.
It noted that once financial clearance is obtained for any major recruitment exercise, an official announcement is made to invite all qualified candidates to apply.
“The recruitment process of the Ghana Education Service is open, transparent and free of charge,” the statement emphasised.
The GES reiterated its commitment to fairness, integrity and due process in all recruitment exercises and cautioned the public to be wary of individuals attempting to exploit job seekers through false claims.
