10 changfans, 7 water pumps and single barrel gun destroyed on day 2 of Operation Halt on Pra River
Day two of the renewed military operation dubbed "Operation Halt 2", as part of the fight against illegal mining commonly known as galamsey [gather and sell] was on River Pra in the Central Region on Friday.
As of midday Friday, 10 changfans, 10 water pumps which were on the River Pra had been destroyed by the team.

The team also seized a single barrel gun.
On the first day of the renewed operation on Thursday, a total of 18 changfang machines which were being used for illegal gold mining on the Birim River in the Eastern Region were destroyed.

Colonel Eric Tenadu, Commander of the "Operation Halt 2" Task Force explained that the single barrel weapon seized was locally manufactured and that it was seized along with some BB catridges and mechanic tools.
He said the illegal miners escaped from the site before the military team arrived there.
He said "surprise" was the leading role of the military operation and so they are moving to many other sites.
