Akyem Oda MP supports BECE candidates
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has donated 1,486 mathematical sets to the Birim Central Education Directorate.

These sets were distributed to both private and public school students preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the municipality.
Mr Acquah, who is also a Deputy Minister of Health, organised a special mock examination for 1,468 final year pupils in 41 junior high schools, comprising 23 public and 18 private schools in the Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The examination, which is the fourth in a series to be organised by the MP since he became the legislator for the area on January 7, 2021, is aimed at preparing the pupils to come out with flying colours in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
At a brief ceremony to present the sets yesterday, Mr Acquah said the gesture was to equip the students with the necessary tools for the examination and urged them to aim for excellence.
Some of the beneficiaries, who were elated, expressed their appreciation to the MP for the support and pledged that they would do their best.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central, Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa, and the Municipal Director of Education, Esther Quaye-Sowah, visited some of the beneficiary schools to monitor the pupils taking part in the mock examination.
Some of the schools the team visited included Oda Salvation Army JHS, Oda El-Shaddai JHS, Hecta International School at Oda and Oda Nkwanta Methodist and Municipal Assembly JHS.

Addressing the pupils, Ms Adjoa Agyeiwaa advised them to study hard and pass with high grades in order to gain admission to senior high schools of their first choice.
She urged them to refrain from examination malpractices at the examination centres since that could jeopardise their future when caught.
Ms Agyeiwaa gave the assurance that the municipal assembly would offer scholarships to pupils who would excel in the BECE.
The Municipal Education Director, Mrs Quaye-Sowah, urged the pupils not to be intimidated by the BECE questions as they might be similar to the questions set in the special mock examination.
