Armed robber shoot policeman dead in Northern Region

A police man was shot dead Friday morning by armed robbers at Kalba in the  Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Distrrict of the Northern Region.

The deceased , Corporal  Yaw Lakpao, a police detective,was on his way to Sawla distict  capital after night duty when he was ambushed and shot by the armed robbers.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant  Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident to Graphic Online, said the policeman who was in uniform was ambushed and shot by the armed robbers who later fled from the scene.

ASP Tetteh told said the body of the deceased cop had been deposited at the Wa Government Hospital, the capital of the Upper West Region.

He could not confirm whether the deceased was wielding a weapon when he was shot and killed by the robbers, who are on the run.

He said the Police have mounted a search for the robbers.
