Coconut Grove Hotels pick three awards

The Coconut Grove chain of hotels with facilities in Accra, Elmina and Obuasi, picked three awards at the maiden edition of the Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) awards ceremony held recently in Accra.

The event, organised to celebrate the most successful hotels, hoteliers and hotel employees across Ghana,  saw Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Accra being adjudged the Best Two-Star Hotel  while the Coconut Grove Hotels won the  Most Outstanding Contribution to the Hotel Industry  awards.

Additionally, the Front Desk Officer and Administration Manager, Ms Roberta Torkornoo of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel also received an award for the Front of House Manager of the Year (One and Two-star Hotels) for her exceptional work ethics and service qualities.

The awards, which were audited by audit firm, Deloitte and Touché Ghana, were based on a range of criteria that included impromptu  visits to hotels nationwide.

Ms Torkornoo later in an interview said the award was an inspiration to her to work harder and achieve more.

“For me, the sky is the limit.  I expect the award to motivate me to continue to excel,” she said.

Ms Torkonoo started as a receptionist at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in 2006 and rose to her current position within 10 years.

The Coconut Grove chain of hotels forms part of the Groupe Nduom (GN) conglomerate owned by Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom and Mrs Yvonne Nduom.

Ms Torkonoo expressed gratitude to the couple for the encouragement they provide to the staff of the hotel.
