DirectAid, Health Ministry and others hold free eye screening, cataract surgery

The DirectAid Society, an International NGO, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health, Gender children and Social Protection, as well as the Ghana Health Service, has begun a free eye screening exercise at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly the Ridge Hospital.
According to the organisers, the screening which started last week, will also provide free surgery for persons with cataract and will run until 25th October, 2019.
"We entreat the General Public to take advantage of this programme for free eye related problems especially cataract", said DirectAid in a statement announcing the exercise.
The statement also requested persons who attended an earlier secreening exercise at the Madina Polyclinic (Kekele). in Accra, to report at the Regional Hospital, Ridge, on Monday, 21st October, 2019 at 8:00am to confirm their diagnosis and to access free treatment.
