Education Minister directs suspension of Obuasi Senior High Technical School headmaster over alleged sexual misconduct

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu has directed that the Ghana Education Service to suspend the headmaster of the Obuasi Senior High Technical School over allegations of sexual misconduct.

The directive from the minister follows a media report suggesting the headmaster misconducted himself sexually against a female student of Obuasi SHTS in the Ashanti Region.

A statement from the ministry issued Tuesday evening October 13, 2026 said the minister considered the issue serious and had directed the Director General of the Ghana Education Service to take immediate steps to suspend the headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, pending full investigations into the matter.

The minister has also requested the Police to commence investigations into the matter.
